MEET SARA (she/her)

Dedicated Helper. Compassionate Human. Person Centered.

Sara has a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Sara is also a Certified Play Therapist, a Certified Theraplay Practitioner, and an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapist. Sara helps children and youth with emotional and developmental issues, including children diagnosed with ASD and FASD/ARND. She specializes in treating children and youth with trauma, anxiety, loss and attachment issues.

Sara has worked with children and youth in various settings for over 25 years. She has completed extensive training related to helping children, youth and families. She has advanced training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and is a Registered Circle of Security© Facilitator, both of which are attachment based models of intervention. Sara has also completed training in Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Collaborative Proactive Solutions, and Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy.

Sara’s gentle, playful approach to Therapy is rooted in her strong values of compassion, connection and creativity. Sara is committed to helping children work through their challenges by emphasizing their strengths and resilience. Sara believes that each child she sees has the capacity to work through their issues when they are provided with a warm, trusting, safe relationship and environment. Coming for Play Therapy provides children and their families with an opportunity to find new ways of understanding, relating and coping.
